64-bit Windows will run 32-bit code happily. It will load 32-bit DLLs, codecs, BHOs, etc. but things get nasty (interesting? :) ) when you mix the two.

I brought the installer issue up in the post/thread I linked to because of the \Program Files (x86) issue. That tells me the ...

Following up on my last post,

I took a look at the SVN on sourceforge (http://ultravnc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ultravnc/UltraVNC%20Project%20Root/UltraVNC/ ). The NSIS full install script is at rev 411 and was last updated four months ago. I did not see any provisions for 64bit OS detection ...

Running Vista 64-bit, downloaded UltraVNC v1.0.6.4 x64 installer (a 32 bit exe).

The installer is trying to copy to [drive]\Program Files (x86)\UltraVNC

...and that's where I've stopped for now. Shouldn't the 64-bit application installer be placing everything in \Program Files?
