Actually, LMI Central accounts can still use LMI Free clients. It's only those who were using LMI Free without paying who can no longer use LMI Free.
Thanks, Angus, you're right; I noticed it this weekend and was coming back to mention it. They also seem to be selectively extending the deadline ...

LogMeIn Free Discontinued!
With ZERO notice and only 7 days' grace, LogMeIn has discontinued its Free offering. I personally know of a dozen people using it for personal and business use; both had been allowed. The first announcement was today; as of this writing the service terminates on 1/28/14. They didn't even e-mail ...

Re: Don't work chunkvnc
I don't know why only the service version works, but one thing that stands out is that you're attaching to the repeater on its PUBLIC address. For local same-machine testing you should probably be using localhost or the local LAN IP address, so it doesn't even have to try reaching the router. (I've ...

No problem; it's kind of funny.
I did a quick search and someone did a whole "mod" of ChunkVNC that might fit your bill. I've never tried it though.

Re: Running a Sc program on linux?
Simple answer: neither UltraVNC nor UltraVNC SC runs on Linux. They are Windows-only programs.
With some effort you might get it to work with a Linux version of VNC.

The viewing person could shut down the UltraVNC server manually, instead of just disconnecting.

Re: 1.0.9.6.1 very slow? win7
No, helpdesk.txt only refers to UltraVNC SC (single click), not the regular UltraVNC product.
If things are slow you can try turning on the "mirror driver", first and foremost, and then try reducing your screen resolutions. There are other tweaks; you might want to read our FAQ section.

Ah looks as if you've found the right thread. As Rudi suggested, go ahead and try using 7-Zip to simply delete the DLL file from the EXE file (the one the SC creator makes) and see if it works.

Re: ChunkVNC - New User Questions
ChunkVNC requires the repeater. But if you really don't need one (if your listening viewer will always be at a static location rather than roaming) you might check out SCPrompt. It's a similar offshoot/wrapper of UltraVNC but does not require a repeater in the mix.

Re: UVNC Single Click Windows 7 Bad Blood with SCHook.dll
I think it's still a file inside the executable that the SC generator returns to you, as I said above. Try 7-Zip or another viewer to extract it. This would break the code-signing though. I'm pretty sure someone else proposed a better workaround but I don't have time to find it now. (You can search ...

Re: UVNC Single Click Windows 7 Bad Blood with SCHook.dll
I should know the answer (since others have addressed it) but sorry, I don't. I would try editing the ultravnc.ini file that gets embedded in the SC executable (that's where the capture alpha blending setting is),or just use SCPrompt or ChunkVNC instead.

Re: UVNC Single Click Windows 7 Bad Blood with SCHook.dll
The Mozillas seem to have unique issues (they often bond to the video card driver for some reason) but in general it helps to set "capture alpha blending" on the server side. Have you tried that?

It can't be done (as far as I know).
Try using two different remote control programs. VNC plays well with all the others.

Re: Control uvnc_service with user privileges
You can't in the current version, due to the Vista/Win7 security model changes. But if you're set to autoreconnect you should get reattached to the non-logged in service after a few seconds. There may be plans to fix/work around this in UVNC 2.x at some point -- I was answering this question in one ...

I still don't quite grok why installation needs to be so painful for Windows programs. Copy files, create shortcuts, modify permissions as necessary, and merge registry entries. What else gets in the way (other than UAC crapola)?
That said, your workaround looks great, mkruger.
