I struggled with the pathnames. It still didn't like the name of the path to the plugin. However, this has been resolved with the following batch file:
c:
cd \Program Files\UltraVNC
vncviewer -dsmplugin MSRC4Plugin.dsm -listen 5500
That works fine.

I hadn't noticed the fact that the Helpdesk.txt had this line in it:
-plugin -connect 192.168.1.102:5500 -noregistry

Is that telling it to use the MSRC4Plugin_noreg.dsm plugin when it compiles the executable file?

What is the purpose of the command line entries? I just ran Ultra VNC viewer in listening mode but I don't think I can tell it to use a dsmplugin, or at least whenever I double click on the icon, I find that it is unticked.

Connection failed - Invalid protocol!

Possible Causes:

- You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin and the Server uses a DSMPlugin
- Viewer and Server are not compatible (they use different RFB protocoles)

It was a good tutorial but it didn't include anything about plugins I'm afraid, so my question still stands.
