Viewer remains in memory after DSM attempt to non-DSM server

Post by BarqMulch »

I am experiencing this problem in v1.02 and 1.04RC16, so it seems like a long-time issue.

If we use an UltraVNC Viewer without encryption to connect to an UltraVNC Server with encryption we get a message that encryption needs to be enabled, but if we use a Viewer with encryption connecting to a server without encryption it just sits at "Connecting..." forever (1.04 shows "Negotiate Protocol Version"). When Cancel is pressed vncviewer.exe remains in memory.

The obvious answer is, "use encryption on all the servers," and we will do that, but until the change is made at all of our sites (thousands) it's a toss-up as to whether a given site will have encryption or not.

It would be nice if the viewer could detect that the encryption is not necessary and produce an error, just like when the viewer doesn't use encryption but the server does.

Thanks
