Connection failed: EventID 3

Post by silvinaj »

Hi!
I use VNC (version 1.02) from my XP computer since one year ago without problem, with the plugin.
I have connection with 5 computers: 4 desktops and one server.

I am setting up my new computer with vista.
I installed version 1.02.
I copied the plugin and the key file.
I copied the direct access icons from my XP to Vista.
I can connect succesfully with the 4 desktops, but I have problems with the server.
The error is "Connection failed: Invalid protocol".

It has no sense since I can connect with the other desktops (same plugin and key). And the password is never entered since the error is in "Negociate protocol version".

In the server, the event log shows a connection and then a disconnection with eventID 3. I have no other errors there.

I hope you can give me some ideas. I am run out ot them!

Thanks!
Silvina from Argentina.

UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home

vncviewer on vista OS (windows 6.0) require start vncviewer run as administrator for the dsmplugin have enough right access for read/write

this also applicable for winvnc 1.0.5.2 as application on vista + dsmplugin.
as winvnc service system, the right access read/write is ok.

Hi! Thanks for your answers!

About version
----------------
I installed 1.02 version because the computers I am connecting to, have this version.
And it is working with 4 of the 5 computers.
So thats is why I think the version is not the problem. I can connect to the desktop computers, only the server is the problem.

About Rights
----------------
I am an administrative user. So, I think when I run the vncviewer I have all the rights. Is it correct?

Note
-----
Since connecting to desktops I have no problem, I blame the server! haha

When the server had Norton Ghost running, and I attempted to connect, the server hung up.
I uninstalled the Ghost, and I still cannot connect, but the server does not hang up.

Is it possible than the server is running something else, or has some security that with the information sends by Vista, prevents me from connecting?
