cannot connect with DSM plugin

Post by michga »

I am getting crazy very soon: i can connect without DSM plugin, but if I want to use the MSRC4 plugin, there is no answer. I am very sure that I use the correct key file, and that the plugin finds the key. A second server with exactly the same UVNC and Windows configuration connects ok. There is no firewall between server and client. Same situation with the latest versions of UVNC and plugin. I know that the service has to be restarted after switching on the plugin.
Our environment is: Win 2000 server (with latest updates), UVNC 1.0.2, Plugin 1.2.2., no Single-Click.
Can anyone help please?

Good question! The user is an administrator, with all rights.

Best regards from the Netherlands!

Same problems here.
I have a connection entirely functional, from XP 32 bit viewerside to XP 64bit serverside. Both sides have the same key and plugin version (latest from comcast page).

This is from the debug log at serverside;
Fri Dec 19 00:06:33 2008
.\vncserver.cpp : removing unauthorised client
--A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
.\vncserver.cpp : RemoveClient() done
.\vncclient.cpp : ~vncClient() executing...
.\vncclient.cpp : deleting socket
.\vsocket.cpp : closing socket
Fri Dec 19 00:06:35 2008
.\vncmenu.cpp : ########### vncMenu::TIMER TrayIcon 5s hack
Fri Dec 19 00:06:40 2008
.\vncmenu.cpp : ########### vncMenu::TIMER TrayIcon 5s hack
Fri Dec 19 00:06:45 2008
.\vncmenu.cpp : ########### vncMenu::TIMER TrayIcon 5s hack
Fri Dec 19 00:06:50 2008
.\vncmenu.cpp : ########### vncMenu::TIMER TrayIcon 5s hack

by the way, what do these TrayIcon entries mean? They fill the log quite severely that way..

When the viewer is running in listening mode with DSMPlugin enabled, whenever a connection arrives, it will create a temporary DSMPlugin file with "d1" extension. For e.g,:
Plugin Name = xxxyyy.dsm
Temp File = xxxyyy-tmp.d1

This temporary file will just be created when VNC/SC signal come to a listening viewer, and doesn't exist in normal connection initiated by the viewer.

You porblem is most likely the user running the listening viewer doesn't have right to write on the vncviewer directory.

I have tried the ARC4Plugin.dsm, it is OK. But the same, the listening viewer will create a "ARC4Plugin-tmp.d1" file.

I have tried the AESV2Plugin.dsm too, but it fail to work under SC.
