SecureVNC 2.3.0.0 - all options grayed out

Post by Gregyski »

Hello,

I just upgraded to UltraVNC 1.0.9.5 64-bit to check out the new advanced options for SecureVNC. However, all SecureVNC advanced options both in the server settings and the viewer settings are grayed out. I have the plugin enabled and set to SecureVNCPlugin64.dsm, but when I click on Encryption->Configuration in uvnc_settings.exe or Use DSMPlugin->Config in VNCViewer.exe, the only functional controls are the four buttons, two for creating keys, one for Adam's website and one to close the dialog. Everything else is disabled/gray.

The service is running on a Win2k8 R2 64-bit server. The viewer on Win 7 Pro 64-bit. Running uvnc_settings.exe or vncviewer.exe as Administrator had no effect. The package I installed was UltraVNC_1.0.9.5_x64_Setup.exe. I've confirmed that both the service and viewer are running as native 64-bit.

I tried downgrading to 1.9.0.1 64-bit (UltraVNC_1.0.9.1_x64_Setup.exe) on both ends, since that's the recommended version on Adam's site, but it changed nothing.

Also, is it by design that I cannot save the password in the .vnc file when this plugin is enabled? If I can get the advanced settings working, I realize I won't need that since I can use a Client Authentication key. But in the meantime, I miss that functionality.

Thank you,
Greg

Edit: I've subsequently upgraded a 32-bit XP machine and done a clean install on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine that had never had UVNC installed before. Both exhibit the same behavior. I'm starting to believe I'm missing something profoundly simple here.

Thanks for that. It works fine from there.

I should point out that Adam's site currently does not say that anywhere. I had read the whole page trying to solve this. And because the UVNC package no longer has a shortcut for Admin Properties (I think it used to have one for Default Settings or something which took you to that) and because I was running it as a service so there was no tray icon, I didn't realize the Admin Properties dialog was even there anymore.

Thanks again,
Greg
