Secure VNC Plugin Passwords vs Keyfiles

Post by wdewey »

I have been using UltraVNC 1.0.2 with an ARC4 plugin for several years now. I really liked the functionality where I did not need to use a password for encryption (I use the MS login capability), but if I connected without the key file it wouldn't work. With the new secure vnc plugin if I have a password it always prompts and if I don't have a password and the server does not have a key file then it will connect with a blank password (Found this out during testing). Is there anyway to have the viewer remember the password or require that a key file be used?

did you use the same key arc4.key at both side with securevnc and you need a least 1.0.8.x or above.

did you read ?

if you create new arc4
all need to be done from vnc server side, then copy the new key to your usb drive or shared folder and then copy to your vncviewer folder (not subfolder)
UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home

Not using ARC4 any more.

Yes.

I am not using ARC4. I am using the new "SecureVNCPlugin.dsm" It works fine, but I would like it to let me know that the server does not have a key file when I connect to it.

No problem. It's just a feature I would like and just thought I would check and see if it was available.
