Can get windows 7 to connect to windows xp

Post by jimmycap1973 »

Hello everyone.

I have recently upgraded my work laptop to Windows 7 and I am having issues connecting remotely to my stores.

On my laptop I am using...

OS - Windows 7 64bit
App - 1.9.0.5 64bit
Plugin - Securevncplugin64.dsm

On the server side
OS - Windows XP
App - 1.8.0.2
Plugin - AESV2plugin.dsm

I can get as far as "Negotiate Protocol Version" thats it.

Then I get the standard "forgot to select DSM..."

Can this setup even be run?

What am I doing wrong?

Why are you using two different DSM plugins? That's not likely to work...

I figured that is the problem, but I cannot find any information about which one to use.

The old AES plugin does not work on windows 7.

Will the 64bit plugin work on windows XP with the older version of VNC? It does't seem to.

What config are others using that have my setup? I can't find a post with that information.

Is there something preventing you from installing the same version of UltraVNC on both sides? That would simplify things.

You could also try using the 32-bit version of UltraVNC on your 64-bit machine...

The server side pc;s are not capable of running the 64 bit program. Also when I try to run the 32bit on my laptop it shuts down.

I have since setup a virtual server on my laptop and installed VNC on it. I can now connect to the stores but it is not prompting me for my MS-logon. it is only asking for a generic password so I cant get in. Any thoughts?

Sorry I meant that UltraVNC itself was available in both 64 and 32 bit versions for each release. I'm not as familiar with the choices in DSM plugins.
