I put a SC remote_desktop.exe together for a friend running 32 bit Intel Win XP. It worked fine unencrypted. Then I put one together using the distributed rc4.key. I understand (now) that you have to generate a new one. Anyway when I tried it with the distributed rc4.key I got:
- Code: Select all
VncViewer Message Box
---------------------
Info Message
Connection failed - Invalid Protocol !
Possible causes:
- You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin and the Server uses a DSMPlugin
- Viewer and Server are not compatible (they use different RFB protocols)
If I run viewer and check
- Code: Select all
Use DSMPlugin MSRC4Plugin.dsm
- Code: Select all
config
- Code: Select all
Plugin Activation
-----------------
The Plugin cannot be loaded.
Please check its integrity.
If I chose
- Code: Select all
msrc4plugin.dsm
- Code: Select all
UltraVNC Viewer - Win 32 1.1.8: vncviewer.exe - Bad Image
---------------------------------------------------------
C:\Program Files\uvnc bvba\UltraVNC\msrc4plugin.dsm is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains and error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
Also I installed
- Code: Select all
UltraVNC_1_1_8_X64_Setup.exe
- Code: Select all
Win32 1.1.8
I thought I understood from the http://adamwalling.com/SecureVNC/ that SecureVNC is backwards compatible but I assume I still need to generate a new rc4.key but I don't know how outside of the Viewer (which doesn't work as above).
I can post other info if requested. Apologies if this confused. I am.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Mike
