Cant authenticate

Post by gregk »

Hello. I am having an issue where the mslogonII user settings are disappearing on me. I enter the settings...then when I try and authenticate....I will get one of 2 messages.

It either tells me
Negotiate protocol version....(and then just hangs..never even gives a chance to enter a password)
Or...
I can enter my password...but then it tells me
wrong password.
At that point....if I go back to check the user accounts I had set up....everything is gone...as if I had not set up any account access.

It seems that the settings disappear each time I restart the service.

Is there something that maybe I am missing, or doing incorrectly?

Im using ver 1.0 with the encryption plugin.

Thanks for your help. I am new to this software...and really appreciate it.

user settings disappear

Post by gregk »

I'm not sure I follow. When I start the service it goes back to the default settings ?(meaning no user settings are configured?) Thats what it seems to be doing.

It's like a loop....if I dont restart the service after adding user information, It gets stuck negotiating the protocol version. If I restart the service....the login password dialog box appears like its going to let me try and log on...but it gives me 'wrong password' error...as now the user settings which I had just configured are no longer there after starting the service.

When you hit 'configure ms logon groups'....it takes a minute...and then brings up a blank configuration (no users added)

absolutely not !
default settings meaning "apply all same settings to everyone" as you personalized options on
WinVNC: Default Local System Properties

Start... Run
"C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\winvnc.exe" -defaultsettings

basic question:
OS and if application service pack

Domain issues

Post by gregk »

I think I know what was happening. The boxes I had trouble with all had an error in the Systems event viewer indicating trouble contacting a domain controller. I talked to my Network Admin....who knows how to resolve the issue. I'm assuming the user settings kept disappearing for that reason.

Thanks for your help.
