MS-LOGIN (or II) help please!!!

Post by foxy »

Hi,

I have XP Home and can use UltraVNC with no problems if I don't use the MS-Login. I would prefer to use either of the MS-Login options but amhaving probs configuring/using them.

MS-Login
I type in my windows username into group 1 and have tried selecting all 3 combos of tick boxes. I then login in with my Domain/User and windows password or just User and windows password in every possible combo with the above selection. Nay joy.

MS-Login II
I got UVNC to find users and it got loads. I picked Domain/Owner and Domain/Administrator as my username was not listed (altho my friends guest accounts were). I again tried a mind bending combination of everything before reading forum and drinking larger bottle of vodka. Please help :)

Thanks, Steve

MS Logon
  • Require MS Logon (MS Logon I) (possible with XP Home)
    username (false computer\username)
    password
  • New MS Logon (MS Logon II) not possible for XP Home
success XP professional <--> XP Professional
success from XP Home (viewer)--> XP Professional (server)
fail from XP Professional (viewer) --> XP Home (server)
fail from XP Home (viewer) <--> XP Home (server)
note:
Require MS Logon (I): work on win9x, NT4, 2000, 2003, XP Home, XP Professional
New MS Logon (II) work on 2000, 2003, XP professional (exclude XP Home, 9x)

Under Windows XP,
the ForceGuest registry value is set to 1 by default in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
If the Guest account is enabled, an SSPI logon will succeed as Guest for any user credentials.
If ForceGuest is disabled (set to 0), SSPI will log on as the specified user.
So it's important to disable ForceGuest. Otherwise all authorization is done against the guest account!
