vnc service is not runnig when one user is logged on

Post by bock »

hi

i have a computer win xp with 3 user accounts

Adminstrator with a password set on it (and the funny thing about this is, that when i reboot the computer it will atomaticaly logon into administrator account without asking for the password but if i switch user and then i try to login into the administrator account it will ask for a password, and if i logoff from the administrator account then this account will no more be displayd at the windows logon screen (as usaual the adminstrator account is not displayd at the windows logon screen onless you boot under safe mode))

and a user account user1 with a password

and a user account user2 without a password

i have tried to run U-Vnc as a service with MS logon enabled and also MS logon not enabled and under both ways i have the same problem

that i can logon only to the adminstrator account or to the "user1 account"
witch both have a password, but i canot use vnc and log to "user2 account" witch dose not have a pssword

and if i will try to use U-Vnc while the computer is logged on to the user2 account the computer will jump to the windows logon screen and if i will try to logon true U-vnc vnc will shut down, and if i open U-vnc viewer again i will see the Windows logon screen again

on more thing to add

cheking at task manager ->Processes i will see the "winvnc" process while logged on with user accounts Administrator and user1 but while logged on with "user2" i wont see the winvnc process

can anyone tell me what to do to fix this

bock,

I don't understand exactly what the situation is.
There are two different notions of logon:
- logon to windows (normally requires CTL-ALT-DEL)
- logon to vnc

which of these logons doesn't work here?
Is vnc really in service mode? please check Administrative Tools -> Services, not the list of processes.

How is ms-logon configured? I or II? Which groups are granted access?

I think there three different notions of logon since ME and XP
aka Fast User Switch (FUS) allow log in without Ctrl-Alt-Del
mainly used at home, friendly usage. (security is not very important)
user account user2 without a password
unless you change it, by default:
mslogon I or II don't allow to logon on user account with empty password
symptom: VNC authentication failed

MS Logon authentication:
I don't know yet any workaround how to autorize username/"empty password" to allow log in on vnc server for closed LAN usage or especially XP Fast User Switch home LAN usage.

only applicable for classic VNC authentication (VNC password only)
meaning, emtpy checkbox [ ] MS logon
that not affect MS Logon I and II (ignored from MS Logon)
