Cannot login when Win2K is locked

Post by fullid »

I have one winxp and one win2K pro.

For winxp, everything works one. After I connect it,
I can see the lonon interface.

But for win2K, I can only connect it when no screensaver is running.
If I lock it and use another PC to login, after I key in the password,
the viewer will be closed. After few minutes, a popup window shows
"Failed to Authentication". I tried MS logon 1&2 with default setting
but in vein.

I read the FAQ, the solution I found is like dont lock it.
But I usually lock it when I left my work place.
Is it possible to connect win2K when it is locked locally?
Thanks for providing answers.

what's your version of UltraVNC?
Is it running in service or application mode?
Have you tried "normal" VNC authentication?

I didn't make it clear, sorry.

I am using v.1.0.1, just downloaded it few days ago. It should be the latest
version.

I used "install winVNC service" in the start menu to activate the service.
The problem is that the application mode is running, so it's fail to activate
the service mode. I didn't notice it before.

So I closed the application, activated the service via control panel.
Reset the settings. It works!

Now I know the problem is application/service mode.
Thank you, Marscha.
