Authentication Error

Post by Qudeid »

Well
It's a weird thing, that occured here.

First I run both machines with Win XP Pro (I don't like MS's Remote Desktop). The two PCs are mine and the on of my dad.

Now, the weird thing is, that I can fully connect form my dad's PC to my PC but not vise versa...

It seems that the installation there runs not as it should. The registry seems not to be updated. Meaning if I do nothing but installing VNC then it will promt that my dad's PC hasn't a valid password.
Then I copied the registration thingies from my pc to his and now, at last, the authentication window opens. Well and the result is that Error (I did no typos nor anything else...)

Oh by the way I use Win-Logon

Thanks in advance

MS-Logon fail if VNC password field is empty under vnc server admin properties.

MS-Logon fail if Fast User Switch (new logon XP/ME) enabled and there no password request.
MS-Logon fail if windows logon (classic logon) and username and password is blank (empty)

XP = Windows eXPerience
ME = Windows Millenium Edition

For the second state you mentioned... It this concerning any option in UVNC? Or is it the one from Windows, where you can change the kind of Logon (i.e. the Welcome Display)?

Okay... Now I'll wrap it up...

First of all, when I installed UVNC on my machine after finishing installing the service this Admin Properties Dialogue opened. This didn't happen on my Dad's PC (I tried to reinstall it a couple of times). Then I switched of this "Fast"-Whatever-Thingy, well... It still didn't work. And back to the password. In this Edit-Thing in the Admin Properties there is a password. But when I don't "copy" the regestry things from my PC it does not write this password down in the registry. It is weird. I alsways thought his machine is more stable and "clean" than mine...
If you have any questions, that would answer something not understandble please ask them. I really like to get this VNC up!

Oh and by the way, When I logged on my PC I couldn't type anything. Well not on my Dad's PC, there everything worked, but I couldn't type into the window of the PC I was connected with...
