Authentication failed when user account must change password

Post by tjwielenga »

I have an issue that hopefully someone has come across before and that is when logging(MS-Logon II) onto UltraVNC server with a user that needs to change its password on first logon(in users properties in compmgmt.msc the "User must change password at next logon"), the VNCviewer says "VNC authentication failed!" The same holds true when a user account's password has expired and the password needs to be changed at the next logon. How can I get around this failure when the password needs to be changed? I can login fine when a password change isn't needed, but I will have instances where a user will want to log on remotely without having to first logon locally at the remote site and change the password. I'm running the latest UltraVNC 1.0.2 and XP Pro SP2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry, this is not possible with MS-Logon II.
I'm not aware of any other tool that could handle this.
It's not part of the underlying NTLM protocol.
