Can log in using local account. Please Help

Post by sumasage »

How can i set up so that i have to use a local account to log onto VNC? In the server configuration i see "VNC Password" field. I will assume this is what some of the people here refer to as classic password. I see the "Require MS Logon (User/Pass./Domain)" check box and "New MS Logon (Support multiple domains" check box. I checked both of those boxes believing that MS Logon will be the local account log on. I went into Computer Management, create a user call "vnc", and add it to the Administrators group (admin rights). I tried to remote into it but it kept on saying "VNC Authentication Failed!". After a few tries i get "Your connection has been rejected". What i'm i doing wrong? Is there a log in timeout somewhere to enable more fails login before i lock me out? Thanks.

When you check "Require MS Logon" and "New MS Logon", you also have to "Configure MS Logon Groups".
There you can add the accounts or groups you want to give VNC access.

I did that but seem like it doesnt want to work. When adding the "Administrators" group, i get connection refused after one failed login. Wait a few minutes and it will let me try again. But the login still fail so i get connection refused again.....endless cycle. I tried add other users/groups and giving it full permission but no cigar. Do i need to restart the server service every time i make a change?

I unchecked the "new MS logon" box and left the "require MS logon" checked and now it lets me logon with my normal user account.

Only took about an hours worth of frustration to try that.

Only problem I'm having now is loggin on w/VNC after the computer has been "locked". I'll post that in another forum.

uvnc will have to be installed as a service to unlock a computer.

For installation of a service look in the FAQ topic for a post saying cant send ctl+alt+del it might be on the second page
