UltraVNC SC with Repeater

Post by Martin »

SC is one of the best things you guys have done, and it works just perfect in single SC / viewer mode. Thanks!!

I canot get it to work with a RC19 repeater, however, and the documentation for this scenario is somewhat lacking.

According to the repeater log, SC is adding to the server list with the correct ID. (It took me a while to find out, that the ID MUST be 4 digits; otherwise it is padded with "59xx", but that´s a different story) But how do I add a viewer to the server list, or connect to a specific server ID? Should a viewer connect to the repeater in listen mode or directly? What are the values for "restrict address port" and "accept" in the repeater setup? (It´s not quite clear what they mean, anyway) If i put in ID:1115 in the upper Viewer field and specify the repeater IP-Address, I get a "DNS lookup failure" error, which indicates, that there must be another syntax for specifying a specific server session by its ID number, but how is the syntax?

Could anyond please shed some light on this issue?

Ooops, I must have overlooked that link.

After Upgrading the Viewer from RC19_5 to RC19_7, it now correctly registers itself with the repeater and the DNS lookup and repeater-field bugs are gone.

However, now the SC Server doesn´t register with the repeater anymore. But since it worked yesterday, I think I will first have do my own homework before I continue to ask here... :-)

Thanks for your fast reply!!

...done with my homework, SC is now registering with the repeater as well as the viewer, and remote control finally works like a charm. The repeater even works after being installed an run as a service. Very impressive!

Just two things are somewhat unclear.

1.) If the repeater settings are to be altered, I would stop the service, start repeater.exe manually, make the changes, exit and restart the service again. Is this the way it is intended to be done?

2.) how can the logfile of the repeater service be accessed?

Thanks for the great info, but I must be totally stupid. I can not get the repeater to work at all. I have read until I am blue in the face and not making any progress at all reading. I need your help or someones to help me get the repeater working!!!! Can someone show me how they have this set up and configured??

Here is what my helpdesk.txt file looks like:

I am running the repeater on the same PC as I run the Ultravnc viewer in listening mode. I Run the Ultravnc SC Viewer on the PC I am trying to get access to. Both run windows xp pro SP2. The reater appears to start, but then stops right away and closes out. You you or someone tell me what it is that I am doing wrong, because it's clear now that I can not figure it out on my own. HELP!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

first, try easy solution and secure connection SingleClick III partner (SCIII) to your viewer
[topic=3587][/topic]

then you succesfull tests
you see how it work then try to make your own repeater at your place.

1st, ask yourself basic question:
- What do I have to have to reach my objective?

1. I have a public static ip or public dynamic IP from my ISP ?

if dynamic:
2a I have a dynamicDNS account service subscribed for ?
or
if static:
2b I have a static public IP address, I just need to put my public IP address

From where to where I want connecting partners ?
mypc_viewer -- myrepeater -- NAT/router -- Internet --NAT/router -- partner_SingleClick

SC with Repeater(1104) Mode II

Post by bomi »

I'm using Repeater_1104 Mode II to connect with vnc_server to it. That works successfully. But when I try to connect with SingleClick both (SC and Server) disconnect without any errors.

Code: Select all

socket() initialized
bind() succeded to port 5901
listen() succeded
socket() initialized
bind() succeded to port 5500
listen() succeded
Server added to list 1376
accept() connection
Viewer added to list 1376
Server Removed from list 1376
Viewer removed from list 1376
In the logfile of the repeater there's only the following line:

Code: Select all

2005/8/2 10:35:37 2005/8/2 10:35:38 Transmitted: 0k
SingleClick and Server run on the same computer, Repeater on an other pc on the local network.
Why does the connection stop when I connect with SC?

I can see that it tries to connect to a server (icon in the tray with the balloon-text). But after ~20 seconds SC exits.

It works! I did it. Well, it was all my fault. I mistook the ports. And as I changed the ports it workes all fine. Thanks for your help.
Is there a Linux-Version of Repeater (1104) or is it possible to get the code so that I can compile and port it on my own?
