Get SC to work

Post by pplante »

Hi all, I just tried VNC SC inside my home LAN and it works great. Now I want to implement it to support friends and family, but I can't get it to work right.

I want to always use the same machine to receive 'calls' from friends and family. Inside my home LAN, my IP is 192.168.1.8

I have a router (Netgear) from which I opened port 5500 (VNCSC default port) and redirected it to my machine ( 192.168.1.8 ) via port forwarding/port triggering (I have both to be sure).

Of course, I changed my LAN IP from 192.168.1.8 to the IP my ISP gave me in the config file (helpdesk.txt I think), so everything should be fine.

Also, I have COMODO firewall installed on this machine BUT, I shutted it down, so it should not be a problem. Windows firewall is OFF.

The machine has Windows XP SP3.

When running the EXE from a remote machine from the web, it just can't pass, I don't see any resquest poping up at all, but when running the other exe I made for inside my LAN, the one pointing directly to 192.168.1.8, the only thing changed in the config file, it works, but not with my ISP IP.

NOTE : I'm not currently in front of that machine physically, I access it via Windows Remote Desktop Connection.

Is there a special settings, something I do wrong?

Thanks for support! Great software!!

Im having the exact same problem. I beleive you are suppose to use your routers IP address in the helpdesk.txt file. I have not tested this outside my network yet though, I also have a form up asking a question about this.
