Anti-Virus False Positive?

Post by periander »

I've distributed a little SC app to a few different people, but have just had one call me and say that Kapersky has told him that it is a virus.

I checked it out on there single file checker and got this result:

http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus

Scanned file: MySCVNC.exe - Infected
MySCVNC.exe/logo.bmp - OK
MySCVNC.exe/MSRC4Plugin.dsm - OK
MySCVNC.exe/MSRC4Plugin.dsm - OK
MySCVNC.exe/icon1.ico - OK
MySCVNC.exe/icon2.ico - OK
MySCVNC.exe/icon3.ico - OK
MySCVNC.exe/rc4.key - OK
MySCVNC.exe/helpdesk.txt - OK
MySCVNC.exe/winvnc.exe - infected by Backdoor.Win32.IRCNite.aph

I used an online compiler, I can't remember which one though.

Do you think that it's a false positive, or is there a problem in general, or just with the compiler I've used?

I just used the latest creator and it's all good now, (I get a 'notavirus' virus warning though).

Moral to the story, stay up to date!
