Really Newbie Question !

Post by Redfalcon »

Hi everyone !
I have been using TightVNC and just started using UltraVNC, now I have a couple of questions.
-I didn't find where to download the UltraVNC SC version.
-I looked at all newbies forums but I didn't find a step by step guide.
-Can UltraVNC SC be ran if there is a UltraVNC instance already running?
Please I really need help on this. I would really appreciate all help given.

Thanks in advance

Multiple Users - UltraVNC and UltraVNC SC?

Post by Guest »

I wondered also if multiple users can connect to the server - some from UltraVNC SC and others from UltraVNC?

Also, does SC automatically disable the mouse and keyboard, or would I still have to configure that in the server?

1)http://ultravnc.com click the tab for SC or Single Click. You create your own app and download that.
2)For SC that is on the aformentioned website.
3)SC can be run even though there is a server running on the computer, at least in my tests with RC19.5 Windows XP to XP both SP1.

Your welcome :-)

If you are looking for multiple users you may want to get RC19.5 UltraVNC not single click and set up a single server in which the viewers of all the computers use a simple connection script... .vnc file with the viewer installed and they connect. You can of course then disallow people to do anything but view both on the Server side and the viewer side.

Server and viewer command options / and instructions
http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/faq.htm

The announcments area tell you where the most up to date stuff usually is.. If not its in the forums just search around a little bit.

go to www.ultravnc.com
in the middle under the advert click on UltraVNC SC
On the left side it gives you a menu -
UltraVNC SC
Intro
Howto create ?
Syntax helpdesk.txt
How to use encryption ?

Creator

Click on Howto Create. Follow instructions. :-)

Yes, but who compiles this for me?
At the end of the instructions I have a ZIP file with all my settings.

Now what do you do?
Your instructions are not clear as to where the 165K exectuable is created.

Okay,

When you are ready to compile - The website runs a pearl or cgi script (think its pearl) compiles it and allows you to download your executable to distribute to everyone / test. I really do suggest you test this before giving it to clients and looking a fool.

Either rate - On that same menu on the left side I detailed previously, click on CREATOR

you log into this function with the username of - foo
and password of - foobar

Click browse to find your zip file and then click upload. When it is done uploading it runs the script on the websites end and creates the EXE. This exe is then downloadable through a link it creates for you.

I dont mean to be rude but this is all spelled out on this website. What do you mean my instructions are unclear? The following is from the link HOW TO CREATE.... the Devs went to a decent amount of trouble to make this as simple as possible and maybe they could use some feedback on how the following is not easy for some people to read.

http://www.ultravnc.com wrote: How to create my own version?

1) Download custom.zip

2) Replace the icons ,bmp and rc4.key file with your own version
++Bmp need to be a windows bitmap, max colors 256, size 196x181 (16colors --> smaller size)
icons, standard window icons: only 32x32 standard is needed
The bigger the icons and bmp are, the bigger the final result, the final result is 166k + compressed zip file
SAME NAMES MUST BE USED.....logo.bmp icon1.ico icon2.ic

3) replace the rc4.key with your own version or remove the rc4.key if you don't wish to use encryption
To create your own key you need the normal UltraVnc version and dsmplugin.
The config button of the dsmplugin allow you to create another key.
SAME NAMES MUST BE USED..... rc4.key

4) helpdeskt.txt

5)Color background:
You can add a color background by adding a file background.bmp to the zip file
Size 1x283, this bmp is stretch as background
Sample,Sample,Sample,Sample

6) Create a zip File from the files you want to customize
minimum: helpdesk.txt
maximum helpdesk.txt rc4.key icon1.ico icon2.ico logo.bmp background.bmp

MYCOMPANY.zip or jsdgf654324f.zip
Use somthing unique, else 2 custom versions could get mixed
DON'T use .(dot) in the name: sample WWW.XXX.zip

7) Click Creator in left panel
login: foo
password:foobar

How to use Ultra SC with Repeater

Post by jayb »

I'm a new administrator trying
pick up where a previous admin
left off.

We have a vncRepeater running on a server.
The remote user created the exe. file
per the instructions on uvnc.com site.
Double clicked and the icon is in a waiting state.
By the way, the user did not add a ID value.
Is this any random number?

Now at the office, what does on do?
Does the user need to establish a session
on one port on the repeater and the
the end establish a session on another port.

I'm really lost. I need a
"getting started with SC pointer"

viewer listen: RC20.2 (13.03.2005) 192.168.1.32 (static IP) xp sp2 us

error:
The Plugin cannot be loaded. Please check its name integrity.
...
connection failed, invalid protocol

I do something wrong to helpdesk.txt or/and to viewer listen ?
vncviewer -listen 443 -dsmplugin msrc4plugin_noreg.dsm
and try to rename msrc4plugin_noreg --> msrc4plugin
vncviewer -listen 443 -dsmplugin msrc4plugin.dsm

dsmplugin must be msrc4plugin_noreg !! (and not msrc4plugin, because there not use registry, right ?)

Code: Select all

[HOST]
[HOST]
Internet support
-connect 192.168.1.32:5900 -noregistry

[HOST]
Internet support encryption
-plugin -connect 192.168.1.32:443 -noregistry

lol dont be,

It seems you have figured some other stuff out.

But I just got lost while reading through.. and thought maybe I ate something that made me go wacko..

I actually re-read it about 3 times haha..

But I have no Idea if SC works with repeater.. since technically its just a Host::port... I would assume it does...

but.. not sure.. Can you (or anyone else) help ?
