Help with port 443 / Repeater / Viewer

Post by patb »

Hello,
I am new to this and have tried to read through many postings, however I am still having some trouble...I have created my own custom SC, using RC194 here is my helpdesk.txt file...XX ip is a public ip address

[TITLE]
Test

[HOST]
Internet support
-id ID:1234567 -connect XX.XX.XX.XX:443 -noregistry

[HOST]
Internet support with encryption
-plugin -id ID:1234567 -connect XX.XX.XX.XX:443 -noregistry

now the app that is created seems to work fine, I have also generated an RC4.key

now on the a XP pc with repeater v1.02 running the settings are as follows
Accept - 5901
Listen - 443

I checkmarked Allow connection to the server but it is blank I do not know if this is correct

also the restrict access to server port is set to 5900

On another XP pc I have VNC Viewer I am a bit confused and have tried many things...
for VNCServer i put ID:1234567 and have also left it blank
I checkmarked the MSRC4Plugin.dsm plugin
I checkmarked the Proxy/Repeater, i have tried the the public ip and also a private ip within the network with 443 and also 5900 and 5901 to no success.

both of the xp machines with the viewer and repeater have the firewall disabled. the SC pc is unknown if they have a firewall or not.

the repeater pc shows that viewer added to list 1234567 and eventually removes it

so i am concluding I am missing something from the VNC Viewer pc.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Hey I am kind of having a hard time understanding how you have your network setup. I suspect it may be an issue with that. Not necessarily the network itself but the way you have the software setup.

Have you ever made a VNC connection with the SC software? Try connecting without encryption to see if that works.

If that does not work I will need a better explanation of what computers are running what software and how they are connected to each other.

Hey Jeff,
The network setup is as follows, 2 PC's behind a nat router, 1 running repeater, and the other using the viewer...the host pc is unknown they are running the custom SC.

the repeater pc is practically in a DMZ at this point, and the viewer has network access to the repeater PC.

I have used/setup VNC numerous times in the past, but this is the first time in using SC and the repeater. As far as the connection to the repeater goes I am not using encryption at the moment, later on I will have to move to that secure level, but for right now I just want it going so I understand the concept behind it.

1) Allow= Only allow specified.
From the moment you enter something, you block all other
ip adresses.
For testing leave allow/deny blank and put port to 0 (all)

2) Try id 1234 and not id ID:1234, can't check code at this moment, but i think "ID:" is not used in the helpdesk.txt

Try Rudi's suggestion and let us know if that works. 8)

Thanks for the suggestion, i have made the changes as follows :
helpdesk.txt
[HOST]
Internet support
-id 1234567 -connect XX.XX.XX.XX:443 -noregistry

[HOST]
Internet support with encryption
-plugin -id 1234567 -connect XX.XX.XX.XX:443 -noregistry

_____________________________________________________

in the repeater v1.02 the accept is set to 5901, the listen port is 443 and enableis check marked. the allow and refuse connection is unchecked, and the restrict access to server port is set at 0

_____________________________________________________

Now out of 20 or so attempts the repeater only added the id once, and during the 20 tries i tried the app within our lan, and outside, also checked xp firewall settings, also set the pc to a dmz zone on the router. And have also reset the repeater numerous times. I am also certain the ip address is correct.

_____________________________________________________

As for the Viewer i am still unable to connect and a little confused as to what settings i need...i have been trying ID:1234567 for the VNC Server, auto select, use dsmplugin, and check marked repeater with this value 192.168.2.143:443

and i have not successfully connected yet, sometimes it'll sit there and at other times it will say failed to connect to server.

anyhow i am out of clues.
thanks
