replacement for SCIII?

Post by rpcblast »

It appears that there has been little or no activity in the SC3 forums(it is marked as closed but the new topic button looks like it works).

Is SC3 dead, and if so, what takes its place in the following case:

Customer downloads support app, and puts in ID
support app connects to repeater USING SSL(least likely to be blocked by a firewall).

technician connects to repeater using standard port(5500 I believe) using standard viewer, connecting to appropriate ID

assuming IDs match, all is well..

I have looked around and it appears that the other products either rely on DSM for encryption, or some other method, such as SSH, which has a higher likelyhood of being blocked.

I am looking for a solution that supports the use of a repeater listening on SSL. Also, I want the option to prevent viewers from connecting on SSL(not sure how to do this with SC3). The concern is that in theory, someone else on the outside could connect using the SSL viewer, guess the ID, and walla, they can spy on the support session.
