SC with dyndns

Post by amsnet »

I have created SC but replaced my fixed IP with dyndns, but it does not connect from a remote site. Router is set to allow it to come in on port 5500 and NAT to the correct pc. However, the router log does not record any attempt to connect. Currently I have mysite.dyndns-pics.com:5500 in place of the IP in the text file. The connection is registered with dyndns. Tried it with the trailing registry bit and without.

What is the correct syntax for the connection?

Thanks
Nev

vncviewer -listen 5500 must be ready listen before start SC

if SC can't reach your computer,
there only mistake about dynamic registration to service provider or misspelling

your dynamic dns client must run on your computer where run ultravnc viewer listening. otherwise, could not work

free dns can take long time before is active like 4 hours before available to all public dns

Hi Redge
I though it would work but on placing on clients pc to test it drops to the right side of taskbar and says it is in listening mode. On my host pc I have vnc Viewer running and listening on port 5500.

In Helpdesk.txt I need to know the correct syntax for
[HOST]
Fiesta Internet Support
-connect mypc.myvnc.com

OR
-connect mypc.myvnc.com:5500

OR
-connect www.mypc.myvnc.com

OR -connect www.mypc.myvnc.com:5500

OR whatever.

Hope you can help
Thanks

SC appears correct but what do I need to have running as the host. In the original (non Win7 version) I just started the standard VNCViewer listening on port 5500. Maybe there was something else running in the background as SC with mypc.myvnc.com:5500 and VNC Viewer listening on 5500 is not working for me. It is not hitting the router as it is not showing up in the router log.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

All fixed locally. Works over my LAN. Now to test over the internet. It appears that the No-IP updater was not working correctly.
