Windows 7 Cannot Connect to SC Server (Lan)

Post by rwfnetworking »

I have beating myself up trying to figure out why I cannot connect to my SC server. Right now because of these issues I'm just testing on my local Lan, no firewall's are on, Anti-Virus turned off, UltraVNC installed with no issues and configured it to listen on port 5500. I also shut the server down and verified that port 5500 was not in use by another application. My helpdesk.txt file is as follows:

[TITLE]
UltraVnc SC

[HOST]
Internet support
-connect 192.168.1.190:5500 -noregistry

[HOST]
Internet support encryption
-plugin -connect 192.168.1.190:5500 -noregistry

<snip>

When I connect from another machine nothing happens, but I will see a quick popup message on the SC server stating that it could not connect to the originating computer's ip address. This also happen if I run the remote support .exe on the SC server ensuring that "accept loopback connections" enabled.

Any ideas?

Say what?

I'm not sure I understand you correctly, but it sounds as if you have the entire concept backwards.

You do not initiate connections to an SC server from another computer!

The entire point of SC (and similar projects) is that the SERVER (the compute to be controlled) initiates the connection, while the VIEWER sits listening and waiting. So your VNC Viewer PC should be in listening mode, and at your SC SERVER PC you run the compiled SC executable to initiate the outbound connection to the target viewer.

If you know all this and I've simply misunderstood you, I apologize.
