Strange issue with SC

Postby robplatt » 2011-07-18 16:17

I'm running the latest viewer 10961, and the latest sc winvnc client, and the 1.0 repeater. Both client/server is windows 7, and UAC is disabled on both machines.

When I establish a connection to a client, most everything works fine, except when I try to install SQL express. The package extracts, and as soon as it goes to launch the installer, my vncviewer window freezes, and the client continues loading the application. mouse coordinates and clicks update through my client, but the window doesnt refresh. if i close the sql installer, my vncviewer window will start refreshing again and i can continue. so its not hung, it just refuses to paint the window.

if i use the full blown winvnc.exe and do a reverse connect to my repeater (same as chunkvnc's SC client), it works. meaning my vncviewer see's the package extract and the installer start.

whats the difference between winvnc.exe SC and winvnc.exe full that would prevent me from seeing that window launch?

(ive tried running winvnc sc with system permissions and that didnt help either)

any ideas? this one is plaguing me.... :P

on another note, awhile back i saw a similar result when launching chrome. my window would freeze, but the other end chrome launched. i could still move the mouse and click the button, and once chrome closed, my window would start refreshing again.

i forgot to add earlier, that if i disconnect, and reconnect, i can then continue on with the sql install. if that helps any.

Rob Platt? THE Rob Platt? Hey I've been trying to get your attention at your blog for a while now, regarding the development (or lack thereof) of your dynamically compiled VNC binary with repeater project(s).

I still have a hidden comment pending moderation on http://www.robplatt.com/index.php/2010/ ... epeater-2/

See also my post titled "Still No Open Source GoToMyPC / LogMeIn! (Platt)" at viewtopic.php?f=27&t=28397

Anyway, the answer to your question is usually to turn on "capture alpha blending" on the server side. Not sure how to do this with SC bu you may be able to modify the relevant INI file.
