Program Compatibility Assistant

Post by Bruce A. Johnson »

I've got UltraVNC SC working, but when it exits on the computer, the "Program Compatibility Assistant" pops up complaining that "This program might not have installed correctly."

My testing so far has been with Windows 7. I don't know yet if this happens with other versions of Windows.

How can this problem be solved?

sc don't install, it just extract the files in tmp.
There is no error.

This can be avoided by adding a correct manifest file to the install exe.

Wasn't this done for the latest online creator ?

I am also having this problem with the SC2011 builder. I cannot put a manifest into it because it is signed....It happens on Win7 and Win8

I really like the Single Click simplicity, I don't need anything more than this, but using windows 7 I'm getting "The program might not have installed correctly" which is not really nice especially when a non tech person sees it. And I hate telling them to ignore it.

Using mt.exe the generated exe file does not have a manifest file attached to it. I used 'http://support1.uvnc.com/cgi-bin/upload4.pl' to generate the exe file.

Any help/workarround would be greately appreciated.

perfect, the manifest is there and the user's don't get the reinstall pop-up. The issue is that the binary is not signed anymore. In the past it was signed as: "uvnc bvba" not it's "Unknown Publisher".
