SC issues - can't get it working.

Post by Guest »

In testing the .exe I created, I'm able to get it working (ie, it's connecting to my computer and I get the permission to connect prompt) if I'm using it, but when anyone else outside my home network uses it, they get the error "no VNC server selected". The port 5500 isn't blocked, my firewall (Zonealarm) is set to allow it, and my router is set to forward port 5500 to my internal computer IP address (192.168.1.xxx).

I've looked at the documentation, but I'm still unsure what IP address to enter into the helpfile - should it be my internal computer IP or my internet / router IP? I've tried both with numerous variations, and nothing has worked.

Any suggestions?

if your ISP provide you a dynamic IP to your NAT/router, you need to subscribe to a dynamicDNS service provider supported from your NAT router and put your hostname freshly created and confure it to your NAT/router and then put the hostname FQDN to your helpdesk.txt and update your Singleclick

FQDN= Fully Qualified Domain Name
A fully qualified domain name consists of a host and domain name, including top-level domain.
For example, www.ultravnc.net is a fully qualified domain name.
www is the host,
ultravnc is the second-level domain,
.net is the top level domain.

helpdesk.txt
example:
[HOST]
-connect myhostdns.dynamicdns.org::5500 -noregistry

or

if you rent a static public IP address
(you know because is on your contract)
example:
[HOST]
-connect 123.123.123.123::5500 -noregistry

This wasn't very clear in the documentation, but that solves the problem nicely.

Thanks for your help.

Sure - that should be immensely helpful.

Actually, the thing that ended up giving me the most trouble was renaming line 1 of the Host parameter in the helpfile:

[HOST]
Internet support
-connect 192.168.1.102:5500 -noregistry

I began to notice that every time I renamed "internet support" to anything else (ie, "click here to connect" etc.) the remote user would get the "no VNC server selected" error. The instructions seem to suggest that you can rename that value to anything you like, as long as the correct IP address and port is there on line 2 - which makes perfect sense to me, but I tried the exact same line 2 values and they wouldn't work if line 1 was changed.

I had no problem to change text 1 line to replace "Internet support" by "Click here to connect"

so is a classic problem !
The user did not select the line but in clicked outside the zone of the text. !!!
Tested ! really, Easy to obtain same error message !

for stop this problem of user,
you can update your SingleClick to only one [HOST] with [DIRECT]
so, customer don't need to click anywhere !!!!!!
except only double click on your SingleClick and that all. :-)

-------------------------------
[HOST]
Internet support
-connect 192.168.1.102:5500 -noregistry

[DIRECT]

I don't quite follow what you mean by "clicking outside the zone of text"... I replaced the line with new text.

For a direct connection, you're saying I should just replace [HOST] with [DIRECT] in the syntax?

sorry, I was translated text with reverso online from french to english

User need to click over text and not outside of text !

is not replace, is add another line as you can seen on my previous post.
