Trouble connecting at times

I have been using the SCIII_test5.exe client along with the vncviewer_ssl.exe viewer for a few months now. Most of the time it works well, but sometimes I cannot connect to friends and family members computers. I use uvnc.com:443 as the proxy/repeater. Is there something else that I can do when I can't connect to specific computers? I am usually talking with the person on the phone and have them disable their firewall, but it doesn't always work.
