Computer Locks When Connecting

Post by TheNerdToo »

Hi,
So I've been trying to setup the SCIII using a repeater, and I was able to set it up, and everything appeared to be working, untill I actually initiated the connection. I run the SC executable on the client machine and it works fine, it comes in to the repeater, and then it asks my machine whether I'd like to connect, as soon as I click the Yes button the client machine is locked, I don't get anything on my machine, and the repeater says "sslRead errror. dropping connection." I was wondering if anyone knew what could be causing it, I tried multiple different client machines, and a few different machines as my listening VNC, but to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated. There's a copy of my HelpDesk.txt file below.

On a side note, I was wondering what that box now pops up asking you to Enter an ID, it seems like this should be taken care of in the configuration file with the operator ids. Once again thanks for the help.

Hi nerd ;-)

Are you useing an Repeater?
If yes: look that he is a "SSL_Repeater" because of your helpdeskt.txt.
The tag "-id 2 -sslproxy" in your connect-string is only needed by useing an repeater.
If you dont use an repeater the tag should look like this: "-connect 68.15.x.x:443 -noregistry".

If you are using a repeater(port 443) then you should take the "SSL_Repeater" and the viewer(you) also have to use the "Viewer_ssl".

I hope that I could help you!

greetings marc

Thanks for the response Mark.

Yes I am using a repeater and I'm using the repeater_SSL and the vncViewer_SSL, and all of the connection goes through and works fine, and I'm given the Yes/No option to connect to the computer. It's just the second I click yes, windows locks the client computer, and the SC is still running on it. I just keep getting that same error "sslReaderror. dropping connection." I've got port 443 going to the repeater do I need to have any other ports going through as well?

About the Ports:
the server(customer) comes to the repeater on port 443(standart(but also uses port 5500, dont ask my why ^^))
the Viewer(you) comes in on port 5901(standart)
In the setting(rightklickt on the traybutton of your repeater) you can change this two ports.
One more: Be sure that your "certificate.PEM" ar all the SAME one(server, repeater, viewer).

greetings marc

So it looks like the problem that I was experiencing with the locking computer is only related to Server '03. I had it working on a server '03 earlier in the day without the repeater, so I figured that couldn't be the problem, but I tested it off a Vista machine and it works fine. It's still asking me to enter an id though, even when the operator is already given an id in the HelpDesk.txt file. If anyone knows how to fix this I'd appreciate it, and I was also curious as to whether this was a plan to support Server '03 eventually. Beyond that the SC seems to be working great.

Hi again,

if you want to connect to an repeater with the sc.exe without typing in the ID.
You should have a tag in your helpdesk.txt looks like this one:
"[ENTERCODE]"
"Help-ID:" <--its the header in the popup where you have to type in the ID

Delete this tags completely then it should connect without typing in the ID.

Additionaly the Tag "-id *** -connect ********" always have to look like this example!
