Hi Everyone,
I read where the VNC free edition is not secure on untrusted networks, and a VPN needs to be used, or the program needs to be upgraded to Enterprise or Personal Edition to make it secure.
Does Ultravnc have the same security issues and do I need to be looking into using a VPN with Ultravnc, as well?

Ultravnc- Security Questions
Re: Ultravnc- Security Questions
With UltravNC you can use a DSM encryption Plugin (3 are currently available).
When using a encryption plugin, all connection data is encrypted.
The UltraVNC DSM system is basically an 'internal' tunnel.

Re: Ultravnc- Security Questions
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me with the plugin information.
Is there one of the 4 the web site lists that you prefer or recommend?
Thanks,
Brian

Re: Ultravnc- Security Questions
To my knowledge, the MSRC4 plugin is by far the most utilized plugin.
It's stable, reliable and uses the MS Crypto engine that is embedded into the Windows OS.
BTW, the AES plugin (that uses the highly reliable OpenSSL lib) is also good.
