Is VNC right for me?

Post by Taehl »

I'm new to this whole concept, so I'm going to describe what I want to do, and ask if VNC is capable of this.

I'm a semi-professional gamer. I like to keep an IM client running when I play, so people can contact me. Problem is, alt-tab is very hard on most games. Most games take excessive time to switch back and forth, and many crash. So, I want to use a second, tiny box for nothing but running Trillian and Firefox while my main box is for gaming. Since I don't have space for two monitors, I need some kind of program that works as a box-switching alt-tab.

So is VNC what I'm looking for?

hmm probably not because gaming is super high refresh rates. For example Wow likes 30-60 Frames per second.. You can try it and see if it works but I am not sure if you will be happy with the results
