HELP cant conect via IP

Post by mcf747 »

Hi,
I just installed Ultra VNC and am trying to connect via IP address with IE WITHIN MY NETWORK but it does not work. I have tryed my ip in this way XXX.XX.X.XX:5800 or 5900 on both port 5800 and 5900 but I cannot conect. My windows firewall is disabled and my Nortion has ports 5800 and 5900 open to all TCp and UDP traffic both in and out.

P.S. when I type in my ip with port 5800 from my own compuer "conecting to itself" it works fine.

Please help me,
Matthew

IE WITHIN MY NETWORK
don't forget http header to your url
http://192.168.1.100:5800 <-- success.
192.168.1.100:5800 <--- fail

and second, check the ip you input, there no mistake ?
you need to recheck your antivirus about the winvnc.exe

private ip from somewhere outside of your network is not work.
inside should work except if tcp/ip network is improperly set.

I now private will only work internial I am trying to get that to work befor going external.

I think I am confudes abou the Server Ultra VNC and the Viewer "listening". From my experence you wan to conect to the server but I have read on the fourm about some people using the Viewer in "listen" mode. Can you explaine this.

Did it happen you had checked the "LoopbackOnly" box in the admin. properties?

If you had checked the "LoopbackOnly" box in the admin. properties, then the VNC server will only accept the connection from the same pc of the server running.

Just uncheck this box and run the test again.

Viewer in "listen" mode. Can you explaine this.
similar to call back of phone service operator. This applicable for any VNC
the remote server, connect to your viewer, then viewer able to control the remote server.

advantage:
bypass some firewall/nat (not strong firewall) outgoing connection almost open.
almost not need to open firewall port at server side. except strong firewall
no authentication required.
good for remote support
security, customer initiate the remote support for obtain help.

disadvantage:
not work with keyless dsmplugin
not work with java as reverse mode (as my knowledge)

I don't have "Loopback Only" selected I have "Allow Loop Back Connections" and "Enable JavaViewer". This is upsetting because I am a network admin as my living and I can figure this out.
