UltraVNC - how to remove

Post by Steven Denault »

Hello

I have no idea how this UltraVnc program got on my PC. It keeps popping up the Ultra@VNC Server Property Page and no matter how I try I cannot remove it or the program from the Folder in the C:

Nor is there a file for uninstalling in the program file directory.

How can I totally remove this software program and including all traces of the program from my PC.

Help and thanks in advance.

Only after looking through Add/Remove Programs (in Control Panel) you do not find UltraVNC, or VNC anything, do the following:

Open Task Manager and look for the service (processes tab). Stop everything that has "vnc" in it. Then go back to your programs directory and delete the folder with the program in it. Open regedit(start>run>regedit.exe>enter) (don't do this if you are not comfortable with doing so) (if you have no idea what it is... don't delete it) and start at the top of the tree. Do a "Find" for "vnc" and delete everything in the registry that refers to vnc. When you get to the end of the registry, and find no more entries for "vnc", restart your computer.

Download and register "Registry Mechanic". Scan your registry. It will go in and find left over errors (there will be some). Once it completes, restart your computer again.

You should have no more problems

If ultravnc is installed by our installer, you just have to uninstall it via the remove programs.
But some remote support programs from dell and other vendors include a copy of ultravnc. Then it's installed
as part of there program and does not have a seperate uninstaller.

I guess ultravnc is running as service, stopping winvnc.exe wil not help as the service restart it.
1) Stop the service
open a cmd ( runas admin)
net stop uvnc_service
2) search your program files for winvnc.exe
just rename the file winvnc2.exe and reboot
