Screen resolution without physical monitor

Post by zioandry »

Hello,
I have installed ultravnc server on EEEBOX eb1006 with Vista home basic.
This nettop has ATI HD 4530 display video card installed.
If I use an external monitor plugged into DVI/HDMI port and go to use ultravnc viewef from another pc, the screen resolution is mantained at 1280*1024 also through VNC viewer in remote pc.

My goal is to leave alone the nettop with the VNC server but NOT leave the monitor plugged. (I just want use this netttop for internet downloads).
When I disconnect the physical monitor and turn on the nettop, screen resolution is always setted to 800x600, and there are no ways to change it through ATI display driver interface or by windows.

Reading other 3d, I tried to disable TMM service in windows, avoid the launching of catalyst ati program, and also set 1280x1024 default resolution in windows registers. No success up to now.

Could anyone help me?.

Thanks

Check if there is no ATI tweak to overwrite the monitor detection.

On the old cards with (tv out) there was some ati registry setting that disabled the monitor check. This way you could extend the monitor without a physical monitor attached.

Has this question been answered?

I have found the DefaultSettings.XResolution solution, and it has not worked. As soon as I pull the monitor the VNC Session goes to 640x480.

There should be a Windows 7 Pro registry setting for this. Somewhere the OS is being told to go to 640x480.

Thank you for your time.
