dual screen vnc server (RHEL server) and Win client

Post by vnc_newbie »

Hello everyone,

I tried finding the answer in the forum and on the web for hours without success so I now registered and hope someone can give me an answer besides "use the search", because I did. In return I try to post my questions with all the information you need. Thank you very much in advanced!

I want to have dual screen VNC solution which behaves the way a dual monitor works: meaning when I click full screen of a window "within the vncviewer" it only full screens on one screen and not across both screens.

I am using RHEL 5.2 with xvnc. However the server itself does not have two monitors connected! But I enabled "dualhead" at the graphic card driver.

I tried this command:

vncserver :1 -screen 0 1280x1024x8 -screen 1 1280x1024x8 -depth 8
-geometry 2560x1024 (I found this on the web)

However, it seems to not work. Does anyone have an idea on how to start the vnc server with "two displays"?

Once that works which viewer (windows) can I use to display the two screens on actual two screens.

If needed I can install any (free) vncserver and client combination.

Thanks again
