Newbie question

Post by galaxy45 »

I normally use Ultravnc in my house both sharing the same router. Now I have a android [H][T][C] evo and I use wireless tether on my two laptops, I try to connect both laptops by using same network while tethering and it seems that they can't connect. What can I do? :what?:

Can't connect to WHAT? I don't understand your question. Do you mean FROM the Evo TO one of the laptops? If so, what software are you using on the Evo, and what version of UltraVNC server is on the laptops, and what are the typical IP addresses involved? If your Evo is getting an IP address from your mobile provider and NOT from your local network, that changes things, since you might not be on the same network...

if home wireless,

if you need to access, you need to read your manual of your router, if you loose your manual book of your router

I use a program called wireless tether. I just test this one time outside home using 3g network. I got internet connection as normal. then I tried to run the latest UVNC to check if I can access the other computer sharing the same network and seems that is not detecting it. I check for changes in IP to be sure, Then What I need to check :-?

can you ping your laptop ?
if no, your wireless filter access, so you unable to connect with direct remote control software.
if yes, port is not really open, check with port checker if really open
for test, you must have winvnc started (ultravnc server)
open web browser and input http://www.iptools.com/
from computer have ultravnc server started.

enable file and printer sharing or open port 5900 on your windows firewall or/and third party software.

Oh, no, don't permanently enable file and print sharing for Internet access; it's okay to do as a test though.
