I am a new network admin
I am a new network admin
and I need to know what ports does ultraVNC work on. I know for the server its 5900 or 5901 but what about the viewer we need both for our firewall.
Re: I am a new network admin
Technically it works on whatever ports you want it to!
The default inbound ports are 5900 for the VNC server, 5800 for the optional Java viewer web server, 5500 for the optional "listening" reverse viewer, and 5500 (again) for the optional repeater. I believe these are all TCP.
The default outbound ports are 5900 for the viewer and 5500 for a reverse-connecting server (to either a listening viewer or repeater).
If you have more than one "display" or more than one target PC, you would open up additional ports.
I recommend changing ALL these from their defaults for a small modicum of safety against scanning drive-by worms....
