Single click with encryption?

Post by ZorgNozzle »

I have successfully set up single click without encryption, but I'd like to do it with encryption, and the instructions on http://www.uvnc.com/docs/uvnc-sc.html are completely unclear to me.

They say that I have to replace the rc4.key file that's in custom.zip with my own version of that file, and they say that to create my own version of the file, I start up the viewer, click "Use DSM Plugin", and click "Config". So far so good.

But then a screen opens up that is unlike the screen displayed in the instructions. The instructions go on to say that I should "Generate a new key (Gen key)", which I take to mean "click the 'Gen Key' button". There is no "Gen Key" button. There are instead two buttons, "Generate Client Authentication Key" and "Generate Server Key (advanced)".

Clicking on "Generate Server Key (advanced)" opens up a message warning me that if I don't know what I'm doing -- which I most assuredly do not -- I shouldn't be doing this. OK then.

Clicking on "Generate Client Authentication Key" opens up some message about the way UltraVNC is going to name the file. Clicking "OK" (which is the only option) opens a dialog asking for the name of the file to be generated. Not only is this not "rc4.key", but also it's not even "*.key". It's "*.pkey", which it says is a "Private Key File".

Perhaps does "Generate Client Authentication Key" create not just a private key file but also a public key file? And maybe I'm supposed to:

(A) Take the public file, rename it "rc4.key", and put it in the config zip file, and

(B) Take the private key file and put it on all of my several computers which are going to be running viewers listening for customers' incoming connections?

Or something else?

Thanks in advance for any help.

SC's instructions are for MSRC4Plugin.dsm. But you chose "Use DSM Plugin" for SecureVNCPlugin.dsm.

Your alternatives are to either choose the right DSM plugin or learn to use SecureVNC Plugin which isn't covered in SC's official instructions.

For using Single Click with SecureVNC, see following thread for the procedure.

This trick only work with the oldest creator, the newer refuse to change the plugin.
(Signing the SC doesn't allow custom dll's being added)
