how old is UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1

Post by jillhathaway »

Hi everyone,

All this time I have been using the software called TeamViewer. It's also a remote software that allows me to control or view other units via internet.
For a while, I was contented with its performance until I realized that it is actually slow and and is therefore no good for quick presentations. I tried to look
for another remote software and key in "easy remote software" and this software UltraVNC came as one of the results. What I would like to ask is that, I realized that
this software got a 1.0.9.6 version and a 1.0.9.6.1 version. I just want to know how long has the 1.0.9.6.1 been out and does it still have any bugs? Is it convenient to use now? I am actually really psyched to finally get a good remote software because at the moment, I am using the screen sharing via Skype for some of my presentations with my team members. We are preparing for quite a big client and would like to be able to get and master a new remote support software. I hope some of you would be able to answer my questions quick. Please let me know soon. I will really appreciate your answers.

Thanks and morepower...

Every software has bugs. All we developers can do is to minimize their number.

According to http://www.filehippo.com/download_ultravnc/history/ it's about a month old. UltraVNC itself has been in development for about a decade, I think.

Hi jillhathaway,

please do give VNC a try. And also don't expect it to be perfect but expect it to be working much better than TeamViewer. I am just like you. I was a TeamViewer user until Jan this year, and so far, it's meeting all my needs for a remote software.

hi jill,

the 1.0.9.6.1 version is not that much of a hassle to be honest, so you don't have to worry about bugs. so far, i have not encountered anything that tested my patience since I installed this version last June. do give it a try!

all the best!
