access my iMac from Win 7 from external network

Post by megabyzus »

I have successfully installed uvnc on my win 7 and am able to access my iMac from within my network using my local iMac address on uvncviewer. However, I want to access this iMac from an external network. I have access to my iMac public/global ip, MAC address, and have also port forwarded 5900, 5800 and set static ip address on my router. When I use the global ip address in the uvncviewer (with ::5900 appended) I get "FAILED TO CONNECT TO SERVER" error. BTW, I'm doing this from my internal network to test before I head out for work tomorrow.)

BTW, I apologize in advance but I don't see anywhere on the forum where this relatively basic setup (accessing my imac over the internet/externally using uvncviwer) is explained.
