Configuration of UltraVNC

Post by kenstupka »

This is what I want to do:
Remote into my PC from my iPad 3, using RemoterVNC app via my wireless LAN (which does not connect to the internet).

I was told by the techie at Remoter VNC that I needed to instal UltraVNC to make that happen (my O/S is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

I installed UltraVNC 1.0.8.2 on my PC and am totally lost as to how to get it to work.

This is what I know:

1. It appears that I have an instance of UltraVNC running on my PC because in the Systray, I see an icon with the IP address.
2. My PC Computer Name and it's static IP address
3. My Windows User Name and Password
4. My Wireless Router IP address

This is what I have done:
1. In the Edit Settings app, I set a password for FNC and View-Only (I used the same password for both)
2. I checked Allow Loopback Connections
3. Everything else was left default
4. Disabled my Firewall

What I don't have a clue about:
1. What does UltraVNC Viewer actually do?
2. When I open up, I see an entry for VNC Server and wants a host:display or host:port. I tried entering the IP address shown in the Systray and that doesn't work.
3. Where does one obtain the Host:Display Info cannot find any reference to Host or Display Name anywhere
3. When I try to connect from my iPad via RemoterVNC, it fails to connect to the UltraVNC server as well.
