Connection I cannot recongnise and cannot get rid off

Post by gabd »

Hi all experts here.
Really appreciate your efforts.
Please find below a question I wondered for a while since I have downloaded UVNC and install it.
Operating System: Windows 2000 (that is why I have chosen this version 1.0.5.6)
Problem: immediately since I am connected to Internet, when hover the UVNC server icon I see two connections:
1) the legimitate one (to one of my computer, i.e. 192.168.0.2). I am connected through a cross over cable with another machine (the latter is not connected to any other computer except the one when I have isntalled the UVNC server, in fact both have Viewr as well as the Server)
2) another one connection that I do not remember to have accepted or authorized ever: 10.82.156.220.
When checking this IP using for example nwtools.com, I got the answer:
NetRange: 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
PRIVATE-ADDRESS-ABLK-RFC1918-IANA-RESERVED
Do I have to worry?
Why somebody from IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) should connect to my computer?
Also, when I list all clients, I can see only 192.168.0.2.
Thanks for your time.

vnc list all connections.
It's possible that you have multiple network cards ( real: ethernet1,ethernet2,wifi or virtual: vmware , virtualpc), all can have his own ip address
Open a cmd window and type
ipconfig /all
This should give you a clue on the origin

@ Rudi de Vos
Thanks, man.
Your help was decisive.
I figured out there is the ISP (I connect through a PCMCIA / SIM phone card to a WAN of ISP).
Best regards,
Gab
