Connection Failed- Error Reading Protocol Version

Post by ronster »

I work with uvnc almost everyday, but today I moved one of my servers over to windows 7 and uvnc version 1.2.0.6 will not allow me to connect to my server. I get the message in the title with the possible causes of "You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin, Viewer and Server not compatible, and bad connection. I have tried everything, reloading software, disabling windows firewall, opening 5900 port, and checking all settings but I cannot get this thing to connect. Any ideas that I haven't tried yet? Thanks for any help!

Fast test i do

1) copy winvnc.exe vncviewer.exe to a usb stick
2) On pc A run winvnc.exe from usbsyick and run the viewer
First time you run winvnc.exe the default ultravnc.ini file is created and you get the set passwd popup.
3) Ob PC B do the same
4) Try from A to B or B to A

If you have multiple pc and already have a good ini file you natural can copy this ini file to the usb stick, then it use all setings and passwd from that pc.

It's a general error, the first message send is the rfb protocol, the format is incorrect
*data is encrypted, but viewer isn't usiung encryption
*firewall has broken data and message is incomplete
*some unknown reason breaks the data ...
