Newbie questions about video driver

Post by josephgreenberg »

1) If I have a machine that will NEVER act as a server, it will only be a viewer, is there any reason to install the video driver on that machine?

2) Does the video driver work the same (do the same thing) on WinXP and Win2000?

3) If I install the driver on a Win2000 machine and I connect from another machine with the RC16C viewer (or any viewer, for that matter), how can I tell if it's using the "souped up" video driver?

Thanks.

Hi

the following answers are based on my knowledge. They may be wrong...

No. It will unnecessarily use system resources if you really won't use the machine as a server.

Yes. See also: [topic=62][/topic]

On the server machine you have to check the vnc-configuration. It has to say "Update Handling: Video Hook Driver"

Hope this helped!

PS: To the administrators: Maybe you could add these questions to the FAQs...
