Question about MS Logins

Post by eomer »

Hi all,

I apologize in advance if this question has already been answered, but I could not find a solution from the forum or the help pages.

I am trying to configure the vnc server to work with ms logins, but I just can't find a way to configure the groups & users.

The server is running on a win2000 server sp4, and version of the vnc server is v1.0.0 RC11

We are using several domains, and the goal of the installation is to give accès to the machine, but not to the "whole" network.

Hope someone can help me ;)

Thank's in advance,

Nicolas

Try RC17....
RC11 does not allow ms-logon group selection

R17 use following

1) Local admin has always access
2) A local or domain group can be defined, all users that are part of this group have access
3) A second local or domain group can be defined, all users that are part of this group have view access

multiple domains are not supported, users/group has to belong to the same domain as the server
eomer

thank's

Thank's for your quick & clear answer! I'll try RC 17 then.

Be aware of the local language of your Windows!

AFAIK not all the local administrators have access via MS logon but only the group called "administrators". Unfortunately e.x. in German the group is called "Administratoren" and so MS logon does not work (at least in my tries with RC14 it did not).

@ the developers of UltraVNC: please have a thought on that (Windows language versions) and maybe add an advice in the manual/install instructions about it.

Bye,
T.T.H.

P.S.: I created the group "VNCACCESS" and added myself to it...

group names are not hardcoded.

Local admin check is based on access, no group name.

Groups access can be manual set in the MS-logon dialog.
The default group is "administrators", just change the setting in the dialog if you need a customized name
