Two computers, Same setup, only one can connect

Post by ForestFire0 »

I have the same linksys router at my home and small business. I have a desktop with a wifi adapter at work, and a laptop at home. I am running UltraVNC on both computers, I have set up port forwarding for ports 5900 and 5800 on both routers, and set up 5900 and 5800 as open ports with Windows Firewall on both computers. Both computers are running Windows 7 home premium. Both have static IPs (even the same IP on both). In every way I can tell, both computers have the identical network setup. Both have DynamicDNS set up.

Here's the problem: I can connect to my home computer from work, but not vice versa. The work router doesn't accept ping requests to either the DNS address or the IP address (yes, the external IP address, not the internal static IP address). The DNS address is resolved in the command prompt, but the requests time out. I think it has something to do with the router configuration, but comparing the two they look exactly the same.

Oh, and I can also do a loop back connection on the work computer, both to the local IP and the DNS address.
