Screen resizing / speed compared to GoToMyPC

Post by ThatAdamGuy »

Hi there,

I've used GoToMyPC in the past, and I'm trying out ultraVNC. After some futzing with my router, I was able to get it to work (having friends test it for me remotely).

However, they complained about slow speeds and relatively high latency, even though they're both on DSL like I am.

One of them also noted that -- with his resolution set to 1024x768, he had to scroll a lot to see my screen (which is set at 1240x1024).

Your thoughts on either issue?

Oops, forgot to mention I'm using RC 1 d11

UltraVNC has an AutoScaling option. When checked (viewer Login dialog box, or in Options dialog), the size of the viewer is automatically calculated so that the remote screen fits your viewer screen.

About speed, UltraVNC should be really faster than GMPC, in all cases.
If you are using RC11 over a DSL or slow connection, please DISABLE the Video Driver in WinVNC propertiy page. See the UltraVNC FAQ for more explanations on this latency pb with the video driver.

Then, when connecting the viewer over a DSL, I suggest you to select the "modem" quick option.

'hope this helps
