Thrown out

Hi,

we've installed UltraVNC (RC11d) on a W2K machine and it was working fine for some time, when suddenly the service stopped. So we started it again without finding the reason why it stopped (where can we look if the event-log doesn't say anything??).

Anyhow, we started it again, but now the client(s) get thrown out immediatly after we type the password. We get a glimpse of the server screen (for about 5 ms or so) but then the client dies/get thrown out.

The client is running on XP and this is all on a LAN. No firewalls or proxies or anything. The only thing I don't like about the server configuration is that UltraVNC is installed on top of ordinary VNC.

We could of course uninstall, reinstall UltraVNC and restart the whole server, but that is kind of asking it to happen again. Anyway, the server is our domain server so we don't want it to be restarted too often...

Any ideas on what's causing it or how to find it out ?

Best regards

BTW: We use UltraVNC on a XP too, and it was giving our clients a black screen from time to time, until we turned off Remote Desktop. Maybe that should be a tip somewhere...

Well, turning off the remote desktop was a good idea for the second issue.
I have noticed a problem with the service running and then not being able to get in.
I know when I stopped the service and just set the server waiting I was then able to get in.
Not sure what's causing it, just was able to work around it. :D
