Lots of Questions Because of Lack of Documentation

Because of the poor documentation for UltraVNC I can't figure out what some of the features do. I can probably find some of the answers on the forum by doing a search but unfortunately most of the info that people provide is either speculation, incomplete, very general or virtually nonexistent. If I'm making an ass of myself and I just missed the documentation please detail just how much and include pictures. Also keep in mind that I'm not looking for really simple answers. For instance I know what DirectX is to the extent that It has to do with rendering stuff in video games. But what exactly does it do for UVNC? Does it require a certain version? Will it make my connection to the server smoother or faster? Most of these questions can be applied to all of the things in this list. The smoother or faster question is probably the most important to me.

Use CopyRect encoding
Use Cache encoding
Preemptive Updates
Deiconify on Bell
Do not display the sponsor advertisement
DirectX

Server stuff...
Capture Alpha blending

I'm pretty confident about my understanding of everything else.
